Reconstruction of a dental cyst

A dental cyst is a pathological cavity that contains fluid, cells and other organic substances and is surrounded by a durable wall. It usually develops at the tip of a tooth, in the apex, because of a nerve inflammation. In other cases, a dental cyst may appear around a tooth that has had a root canal treatment, but the bacteria have not been completely removed.

A dental cyst can increase in size over time and cause gradual destruction of the bone and the adjacent teeth or affect more sensitive tissues, such as the mandibular nerve. Therefore, it should be removed as soon as possible, along with the tooth to which it is attached.
